Today I did an interview for a children’s consumer  show on SVT called REA. It was only a short interview, but because it’s a children’s show, I had to speak Swedish. I understand Swedish really well, but because I am shy, or more honestly, lazy, I hardly ever speak it. It really is embarrassing since I have been in and out of this country for the last 10 years. Nontheless, I was going to have to speak Swedish. Only one question was going to be asked, What would I do if I had an endless amount of money? The only demand was to “ta i från tårna och tänka så stort som möjligt.” After thinking for a few minutes, I came up with the idea of having a time machine built so that I could travel back in time to the age of the dinosaurs. Then I would find a baby dinosaur and raise it as a pet.  I had Katta translate it into Swedish and email it to me, so that I knew exactly what to say.  The word for dinosaurs in Swedish is dinosaurier. Um, that is a HARD word for Americans.. Lets just say that it took more than a few takes to get that right!!! After about 30 minutes of saying a few lines that took no longer than 20 seconds to say, the guy finally felt like he had a few good takes. Lesson of today: stop being lazy, and work on my Swedish!:)
