My basketball Career

I started playing basketball when I was thirteen years old. From the very first moment that I picked up a basketball, the sport has been my life. I worked extremely hard in high school to become as good of a player as I could so that I could earn a scholarship for college. I grew up in a single parent home, so I knew that it was going to be impossible for my mom to pay for college for my twin and I. All of the hard work paid off, and my sister and I were given full-ride scholarships to play basketball at the University of Wyoming.

After playing four years in college, I knew that I wanted to continue playing. I played with a Swedish teammate my first year in college. We remained friends throughout my college years even though she decided to return to Sweden. I sent her some game film which she sent to some teams in Sweden, and I was called by Umeå Comets two weeks later. I arrived in in Umeå in December 2003 and played the rest of the season there.

The next four years I continued my basketball career in Luleå. The last three years in Luleå ended in SM-Silver against Visby Ladies, Solna Vikings, and 08.
After my fourth year in Luleå, I decided to play for Solna Vikings, and that’s where I stayed for the next six seasons. Within these seasons, we were able to win two SM-Gold, two SM-Silver, and experience one year playing in the Eurocup.

After my sixth season playing for Solna Vikings, I decided that I needed a change. I decided that playing for Sallén Basket was the change that I needed to make. During four wonderful seasons, I was able to make wonderful memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life. At the age of 37, I played my final game of my career on my birthday, and I was able to end my career playing a fantastic game which we won with a buzzer beater, and it was a game we needed to win in order to stay in the league. I had given my all this past season, and even though I didn’t end my career playing at the top, I can still walk away from this game knowing that I gave everything I could to help my team, and that is a great feeling.
