My Five Tips For Eating Healthy

Written by Christy Bacon, CSCS

It’s not easy to always make the healthy choice when it comes to food, but there are things that you can do that can make the choice almost full-proof. Here are my 5 tips that can help you steer clear of crappy food and stay on track to reaching your goals!

1. Prepare your food and snacks for the upcoming week BEFORE the week begins.

Always having healthy food and snacks with you will help you avoid buying fast food or unhealthy snacks.

2. Stick to eating foods that grow in its natural form.

This is the most important rule that you need to focus on following. This means that if you can take it from the earth and eat it directly, then it passes as food that you can eat. All fruit, vegetables, meat that hasn’t been chopped and processed, nuts, berries…you get the point. Stay away from processed foods as much as you can!

3. Make an eating plan each week.

Knowing what time in the day you are going to eat your meals and your snacks will guarantee that you bring enough healthy food to last through the day. It will also help you avoid buying unnecessary food when you know your next time to eat is just around the corner.

4. Make water your liquid of choice!

Avoid sugary drinks and focus on drinking water. Drinking water will regenerate your cells as well as increase your metabolism. Keep a reusable water bottle in your purse or car so you can fill up wherever you are going.

5. Include a Cheat Day in your week!

Plan a day in the week where you are allowed to eat your favorite cheat meal! When you plan in your cheat meals, it takes stress away from eating them because they are scheduled part of your nutrition.
